About
About me
Hi, I’m Smoj, (or if you knew me IRL before my Discord nickname stuck, Tom).
I’m a cosplayer and amateur photographer who’s been doing cosplay since a 2014. Ever since that first mind blowing MCM London1 where my shoddy Rocketeer rocket pack fell apart2 I’ve been hooked and have continued to make equally complex costumes.
What I love comes out in what I cosplay - The Horizon game series, Discworld, Zelda and Critical Role have all seen costumes and are going to see plenty more!
About the blog
The goal of this blog is to show people what I do; Sharing techniques is helpful both to people starting out as well as those with more experience, and I hope that in turn people can in turn give me advice and tips on better ways to go about making my cosplays.
I’ll be publishing updates so you can follow along with my builds, making guides and dropping tips for those starting out. I want to be able to look back myself on all my experiences and see where I’ve come from as much as I want others to share in the journey as well. I’m also getting back into cosplay photography after taking a few years off3 so I’ll be posting links to galleries of pictures from the events I’ve attended (see the gallery link above).
The blog is powered by Hugo. Theme developed from Hello Friend with gallery code derived from Hugo Theme Gallery.
Where you can find me
I’m terrible when it comes to social media but you can find me on instagram smojcosplay and tumblr as smojcosplay. Drop me a message if you want to see a specific article or more detail on what I’m doing.

It was a with a group of friends who hadn’t been to any cons or even cosplayed before. We had an absolute blast! ↩︎

On the first day no less, it was held together with string and tape for most of the weekend. ↩︎

Something I regret - even if there are better photographers around that’s not a reason to give up. Trust me, you’ll regret it later. ↩︎
